The Initial Prototype
After solidifying our concept, it became important to implement the core gameplay ideas.
For us, that meant we wanted three things:
Basic Movement
Simple Level
And maybe a box puzzle
However, we were able to do so much more than that.

Something that became a pleasant surprise was the mind-blowing rate at which we were progressing. Over the course of the first weekend, we had an entire playable prototype. Each team member put in their all to help things come together.
That video (above) represents the first vertical slice.
We asked ourselves, "what are the core duties of the player? What can they do on their own, without the spirit's control?"
In this demo, possession hasn't even begun to take shape. The player can crouch and pick up items, and must avoid a rotating statue using those mechanics.
Now, we had to ask ourselves what we could do with a spirit's control...
